Updated product plan

Did I really read the updated production plan today to indicate the Dart SRT won't be out until 2016?

If that is true...that really sucks...I'm in the market for a new vehicle and while I have no problem waiting a year or so...3 years? Really?

I love my Caliber SRT and I really want my next vehicle to be an SRT but the fullsize SRT's are just too big for my needs and wants. **** it the Focus ST just got a little better looking.

Man go with the 2013 Dart sxt then in late 2016 trade in for SRT..
If you drive one of these Darts you will love it... I drove the focus and this is by far a better car. Just my two cents...

That's a really interesting statement cause I know a lot of people absolutely love how the Focus looks and drives. The Dart feeling like a better car from a regular customer says a lot.

Which model Ford Focus did you buy?

I think eventually Dart should look into making an EV Dart to compete with other electric vehicles on the market just like the Ford Focus Electric!

Like I said in another thread. I would bet on it being out before then. These product plans are rarely accurate. The company outlook could be completely different 3 months from now. If they're already showing off prototypes to dealers, I can't imagine it taking another 3 years to get them on the streets.

I love the looks of the Dart, but I also need something that is trackable, the regular Dart isn't going to cut it in terms of suspension and braking.

Oh god are you serious? This wait is becoming unbearable. I wonder if this has anything to do with the poor sales they have right now with the 1.4L dart. Maybe they want to come back hard and be known.

Based on analysis of the Four Year Plan, some well-informed Allpar members have concluded that the SRT people will go rear-wheel-drive only, or at least will not produce an SRT Dart. Making a “best in class” car in the turbo-compact line, at a substantially lower price than others, would be highly difficult, given competition from long-timers Mitsubishi (Evo) and Subaru (STi), not to mention BMW and others. Instead, the company may opt to provide a good value with a car that can run with the pack but not necessarily stand in front of it, and apply the Dodge Dart R/T label. Indeed, Dodge may choose to provide a car with strong performance that does not run with the Evo/STi/etc pack, but is also priced at a far more attractive point — beating normal compacts for a relatively small premium. That would explain the first new SRT model on the Four Year Plan chart coming in 2016 — roughly when the mid-sized rear wheel drive Alfa Romeo is to be done. Public statements indicate that the plan only works if Chrysler (Dodge and/or SRT) gets a version of the car to spread the costs over a wider owner base.

Only one way to solve that..... make the SRT Dart RWD

I can understand why they may not want to build a SRT Dart but it's something people like us want and need. It fills in a small market but an important one.

I hope they built it and don't flop on the plans.
